Succession planning is about to get very interesting.
The baby boomers are retiring, and they're leaving a massive gap where the next generation of leaders should be.
By 2030, there is expected to be a shortage of 1.3million 30 to 44 year olds, meaning businesses will need a new approach to leadership.
Do they begin promoting junior staff earlier in their careers, hoping the candidates' lack of experience is more than compensated by youthful drive and innovation?
Or do they try to hang on to those retiring baby boomers, getting the best of them to stay on longer while the rest of the inexperienced workforce catches up?
Succession planning is becoming one of the most important challenges for organisations going forward, which is why HR Business Network in association with NorthgateArinso is running an exclusive breakfast briefing chaired by highly regarded HR expert Chris Roebuck.
The Visiting Professor of Transformational Leadership at Cass Business School in London, and regular HR commentator on the BBC news channel, Radio 4, Sky, Bloomberg and CNBC, will lead the event, focusing on what organisations need to do to secure the inspirational leaders of the future.
The race to secure the next generation of leaders has just got even more competitive – 'Succession planning: filling the leadership gap will keep you ahead of the game.
